HAWARDEN INCIDENT UPDATE, 7/22, 7:00PM: 

Today, the City of Riverside, along with its mutual aid partners, continued their efforts to extinguish smoldering fires within the fire perimeter. As of now, a total of 527 acres have been burned. The damage assessment shows that six (6) homes have been destroyed, with seven (7) homes sustaining damage. There is no change with the one (1) firefighter and an update of one (1) civilian injury both reported to be minor.

Tonight, mutual aid fire departments have been released back to their respective agencies. The Riverside Fire Department and Riverside Police Department personnel will be patrolling the area throughout the night and into tomorrow morning to ensure the continued safety of the community.

HAWARDEN INCIDENT UPDATE, 7/22, 8:00AM: 

The Hawarden Incident has burned a total of 527 acres. The fire response includes 21 engines on-scene and 2 hand crews, with any additional hot spots being closely monitored throughout the day. There has been no forward progress of the fire, and it is fully contained within the established perimeter. Consequently, all evacuation orders have been lifted.  

Teams will be focusing on overhaul operations throughout the day to ensure that all remaining fire activity is fully extinguished.  

Unfortunately, we can confirm that 3 homes have been destroyed and 4 others have been damaged. The County Assessment Team is currently on-site to conduct a thorough evaluation of the affected areas. 

The City of Riverside Arson Task Force is working diligently to investigate various reports of fireworks to determine cause and origin of the fire. 

RFD is continuing to work with multiple agencies from Riverside County, San Diego County, and Orange County. Cal OES is also on-site in support of this incident. Riverside Police Department is continuing to patrol and secure the affected areas.

50 Fire Engines were assigned to incident with CalFire aircraft to mitigate fire spread 

1,500 residents are in the surrounding area 

3 structures destroyed, 4 damaged with damage assessment being conducted at 8AM 

527 acres burned 

0 civilian injuries 

1 minor firefighter injury 

Today (7/22), 21 fire engines and 2 hand crews are assisting with extinguishment

We urge residents in the affected areas to please follow evacuation orders when officers come to your home. We also ask the public to avoid driving near the impacted area to ensure public safety resources have safe passage for evacuations and emergency vehicles.
