RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Miranda Evans, Economic Development Manager for the City of Riverside has been promoted to Deputy Director of the Community and Economic Development Department (CEDD). In her expanded role, Evans will oversee economic development initiatives, manage the successor agency to the former redevelopment agency, and lead real property services.
With more than a decade of experience in economic development, city planning, and administration, Evans recently facilitated the relocation of Voltu Motor Inc.’s United States headquarters to Riverside. In addition to business attraction, expansion and retention, Evans is focused on the implementation of the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan aimed to promote and advance aerospace, arts and tourism, green technology and sustainability, general technology, and medical and biotechnology in Riverside.
“Miranda Evans has proven herself to be a dynamic, results-oriented leader,” City Manager Mike Futrell said. “Her expertise will further strengthen our economic development efforts.”
Prior to joining Riverside, Evans served as Economic Development Manager for the City of Chula Vista, where she significantly advanced the city’s economic development profile, earning seven national and international awards for initiatives such as bilingual business resources and small business marketing.
Evans holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University (SDSU), a master’s degree in Political Psychology from Arizona State University, a graduate certificate in City Management from Villanova University, a professional certificate in Leading Smart Communities from Pepperdine University, a certificate in Economic Development from California State University, Fresno and a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and City Planning from SDSU. She has been recognized as one of SDSU’s 25 Emerging Leaders and was named one of 10 Rising Aztec Alumni.
“I am excited to help shape Riverside’s vision for economic growth and to solidify our position as an economic development powerhouse,” Evans said. “The city’s potential exceeds even my initial expectations, and I look forward to leading transformative projects, working closely with the City Council, city staff, ecosystem partners, and businesses to achieve our goals for Riverside’s economic success.”
In her expanded role, Evans joins the Community and Economic Development leadership team led by Community and Economic Development Director Jennifer Lilley and Deputy Director Chris Christopoulos.
