Public Art Riverside Micro Grant Now Accepting Applications
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The City of Riverside is inviting artists to apply for the Public Art Riverside (PAR) Micro Grant, formerly known as the Emerging Artist Micro Grant, of $500 to $1,000 for the 2022-2024 Fiscal Years.
The grants are an investment that fosters a population of artists who can integrate with the local economy and contribute to the community. The City Council approved the continuation of this program on March 24, after a two-year pilot program.
“Access to public art enhances Riversiders’ quality of life and establishes pride of place,” Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson. “But the creation of this public art does not come without cost -- both in supplies as well as in time and talent of the artist. As the City of Arts & Innovation, we are recommitting ourselves to fostering an environment where artists can benefit from available city efforts to create valuable public art for all to enjoy.”
The grants require a project proposal and are designed to help an individual artist and/or artists accomplish projects in Riverside that are accessible to the public. The grants will be especially attractive to artists who have a great idea or vision, but lack resources.
These small grants help artists fund their projects and display them throughout the city in public places and at events such as the Arts Walk. Their work contributes to the collective creative aesthetic of our community.
