Second Alarm Structure Fire

On June 19, 2018 at 9:59 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm structure fire response to the 3800 block of Jackson at the Park Village Apartment Complex for reports of a motorcycle on fire in a storage unit attached to the structure.  Firefighters arrived to discover a storage unit on fire with fire extending into the attic space.  Firefighters were hampered with electrical, cable and telephone lines compromised by the fire to the building.  Firefighters also encountered a working attic fire.  A second alarm was immediately requested.  Riverside Public Utilities assisted with the compromised utility lines.  Firefighters extinguished the fire within 22 minutes after arrival.  There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.  Two apartments were affected by the fire.  There were two displaced adult's and two displaced teenagers from the fire.  The apartment complex manager was able to assist the displaced residents.  Firefighters remained on scene for an additional three hours with salvage and overhaul.

The cause of the fire was undetermined after investigators investigated the fire, the probable cause is mechanical from the motorcycle.

The save was estimated at $150,000 with a an exposure save of $600,000.  The loss to the structure was estimated at $50,000 with a content loss of $15,000.
