The arts have a role in sustainability. By telling stories about our natural environment, conservation, and the future, arts can take complex scientific facts into digestible information for all audiences. CARB Art
Six artists were commissioned for a permanent public art collection at the CARB Southern California Headquarters located in Riverside, California. The commissioned artists were Allora & Calzadilla, Refik Anadol, Kameelah Janan Rasheed, Noé Montes, Andrea Polli and Tomás Saraceno. The public art program includes the world’s largest permanent collection of artworks addressing air quality and the effects of climate change. The state-of-the-art, zero emissions building is completed, and common area public art is open to the public.
California Clear Air Day Mural
In 2023, City of Riverside, Metrolink, and UC Riverside partnered with artist, Ekaterina Orlovie, to erect a “smog-eating” paint mural at the R’Garden (Martin Luther King Blvd, UC Riverside, Riverside 92507, Riverside, CA 92507.
