Operating under the oversight of the City Manager, the Intergovernmental Relations Section serves as the City’s liaison to the Mayor, City Council, elected officials, and other local, regional, state and federal governmental entities. The Section is tasked with monitoring federal and state government activities, developing legislative programs, coordinating with other city departments, and managing the City’s federal and state advocacy consultants. The Intergovernmental Relations Section develops and manages strategies aimed at increasing awareness and support of the City’s policy and budgetary priorities.
The City of Riverside’s Legislative Platform provides additional descriptions of the priorities the Intergovernmental Relations Section is directed to devote resources.
