Mayor & City Council
About the City Council
The City of Riverside operates under a Council-Manager form of government. Seven elected councilmembers represent Riverside's seven wards and serve four-year terms. Each councilmember must live in the ward they represent.
The City Council appoints the City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk. Matters within the City's jurisdiction may be placed on a City Council agenda by the Mayor, a councilmember, the City Manager, the City Attorney or the City Clerk, subject to applicable agenda procedures.
