The City of Riverside wants to ensure your safety and provide timely information regarding the Bain Fire. The safety of you and your loved ones is the top priority. Please stay informed, stay prepared, and follow all directions from public safety personnel.

Bain Fire Incident Updates

UPDATE, 3:00 PM, 5/22/2026

All evacuation orders and warnings related to the Bain Fire within the City of Riverside have been lifted. Residents may now safely return home. Residents may continue to see or smell drift smoke in the area due to lingering activity. Fire crews will remain in the area over the coming days to support cleanup efforts and monitor for safety. Please continue using caution while traveling through affected neighborhoods.

UPDATE, 8:44 PM, 5/20/2026

Crews continue to improve containment lines on the City of Riverside side of the Bain Fire.

Firefighters are continuing to be challenged due to the warm, dry, and windy conditions. Crews are seeking out heat and smoke along the fire perimeter to establish a controlled perimeter.

RFD will continue to work through the evening and days to come to improve containment lines. This will further reduce the chance of a flare-up and continued progression of the fire.

UPDATE, 8:46 PM, 5/19

The Bain Fire is now 10% contained.

Evacuation Center Update:

  • Villegas Community Center is now closed.
  • La Sierra Community Center remains open for evacuees.

Full closure on Jurupa Ave. from Van Buren Blvd. to Wilderness Ave.

Evacuation Centers:

  • La Sierra Community Center - 5215 La Sierra Ave.
  • Villegas Community Center - 3091 Esperanza Street

The Bain Fire is approximately 300 yards past Van Buren Blvd. and is still pushing east and heading north, with warnings now issued up to Ryan Bonaminio Park.

An additional evacuation center is open to residents at:

  • Villegas Community Center - 3091 Esperanza Street

Full closure on Van Buren Blvd. Bridge to Jurupa Ave.

The Bain Fire is now 907 acres and still pushing east and heading north.

UPDATE, 5:10 PM, 5/19

Residents south of Jurupa Ave., between Van Buren Blvd. and Crest Ave., the fire may impact your area. Be prepared to evacuate.

Road Closures:

  • All directions on Tyler St. between Jurupa Ave. and Arlington Ave.
  • All directions on Arlington Ave. between Crest Ave. and Crestview Dr.
  • Westbound traffic along Jurupa Ave. between Tyler St. and Van Buren Blvd.

Drone/UAS Notice: All private drones and UAS devices must stop flying in the area immediately. A drone incursion has forced a temporary halt to aerial firefighting operations. Flying drones near wildfire activity puts emergency crews and the community at serious risk.

Evacuation orders are expanding to the south side of Arlington due to ongoing fire activity. Residents should prepare to leave immediately and follow directions from public safety personnel.

Road Closures:

  • Arlington Ave. closed in both directions between La Sierra Ave. and Crest View Dr.
  • Northbound traffic on Mitchell Ave. shut down at Arlington Ave.

Evacuation Center:

  • La Sierra Community Center - 5215 La Sierra Ave.

Preparedness Actions:

  3. Know your route: Identify multiple evacuation routes and avoid closed roads or active emergency areas.
  4. Keep roads clear: Do not drive into impacted areas unless directed by public safety personnel.
  5. Do not fly drones: Private drones near wildfire activity can halt aerial firefighting operations.
  6. Check on neighbors: Assist older adults, people with disabilities, and anyone who may need help evacuating.
