In an effort to regain its lead and win the CoolCalifornia Challenge by the Sept. 29 deadline, the City of Riverside is inviting residents who haven't signed up to do so at the Keep Us Cool Kiosk, where residents can get more information about the Challenge and sign up on the spot.

Community members with an interest in how a streetcar system might provide additional public transportation options are invited to join in a community charrette and provide their own input Wednesday (9/24) evening. The public event is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Community Center, 2060 University Avenue.

The City of Riverside is accepting applications from residents who want to serve on Boards and Commissions that help shape policies and practices at City Hall. Riverside’s 13 Boards and Commissions offer advice and guidance on important policy decisions for the city which affect daily life in Riverside. Such issues include General Plan updates, building design, signs, parks, recreation, trees, streets, traffic regulations and public utilities.

Riverside Metropolitan Museum Receives Rare Native American Artifacts for Sept. 26 exhibit

The Riverside Metropolitan Museum welcomed Cahuilla people from around Riverside County to help unpack and bless artifacts from their ancestors that were shipped from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. The items will be part of the Riverside museum's Cahuilla Continuum exhibit that opens Sept. 26 and tells the story of an indigenous Native American people who have lived in Southern California for thousands of years. Riverside City Manager Scott Barber Announces Intention to Retire

Scott Barber, who has served as Riverside’s City Manager for three years, today (9/10) announced his intention to retire at the end of the 2014. Barber, who has more than 28 years of experience in local government, has been City Manager in Riverside since Dec. 6, 2011. He previously served as Riverside’s first Community Development Director for six years.
