Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire on airport property used as storage for a vehicle auction company. The first arriving unit reported several vehicles on fire and resulting vegetation fire with the potential to expose approximately 2 dozen more vehicles. The crew of the Airport Station initiated direct fire attack on the vehicle and vegetation. The ICS was established and 3 additional Engine Companies were requested. Battalion 2 and Investigators 1 and 3 also responded. Crews achieved a quick knock down of 2 vehicles fires and prevented damage to approximately 15 more. Fire Investigations will be determining the cause and origin of the incident. Firefighters were committed for approximately 1 hour with Battalion 2 Richmond in command of the Airport Incident. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
