Current Situation

On Monday, May 26, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of fire in a commercial strip center at Arlington Ave and Van Buren.  The first arriving unit found a working fire in the center occupancy and upgraded the response to 2 alarms.  Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack and kept the fire from spreading to the adjacent businesses.  The main fire occupancy sustained major damage, but the other business only sustained minor smoke and water damage.  Riverside Building and Safety officials, along with Fire Prevention, were requested to evaluate the structural integrity of the building and to work with the property owner to initiate repairs.  4 businesses are currently closed due to the fire.  There were no reports of injuries.
