Current Situation
On Sunday October 29, 2023, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to reports of a tree on fire at Arlington X Copper Lantern. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a palm tree on fire adjacent to newly installed High Voltage Transmission lines arcing with numerous plants and shrubbery on fire around BF Goodrich in the 8200 block of Arlington Ave. The fire was wind driven by severe Santa Ana Winds. RPU was requested for immediate assistance to shut down the power lines. The Palm tree was ember casting onto the BF Goodrich complex. One large commercial roll off dumpster caught on fire, threating Building #12 and the roof of Building #28 caught on fire. The incident was upgraded to a 1st alarm structure fire assignment with two additional engine companies.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fires and keep the fires from extending into any structure within the BF Goodrich Complex. RPU shut down the powerlines and firefighters
