    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Metro Apartment complex.  Fire department crews arrived on scene and found a fire in the kitchen area and residents evacuated after being alerted by smoke detectors.  The small fire was extinguished by the first arriving unit.  Department personnel ensured the fire was extinguished, performed ventilation, and confirmed no fire extension to attic spaces or adjacent apartments. The cause and origin investigation was completed by the first arriving Company Officer who determined that cooking food started the fire.  Three residents were displaced. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
