Current Situation
On July 13, 2022, at 5:52 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm vegetation fire assignment to the Old Boy Scout Camp located at Fairmount Park. Firefighters arrived to discover a large spot of vegetation fire in light to heavy vegetation burning in the middle of Old Boy Scout Camp. The fire had a potential for ten acres and was ember casting in the onshore winds. A second and third alarm was immediately requested.
Firefighters started an aggressive fire attack and contained the to a half-acre. Firefighters also contended with a large spot fire outside of the fire lines due to ember casting from the Palm Trees. An additional alarm was requested. There were no witnesses to the fire. The fire was human related. The cause of the fire is undetermined. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
