Current Situation
On Sunday August 29, 2021 at 3:13 a.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm structure fire response to the Canyon Crest Town Centre located at 5225 Canyon Crest Drive for light smoke coming from the Monark Asian Bistro in Suite 64. Firefighters discovered a kitchen fire that had been extinguished by a chemical fire sprinkler system. There was no fire extension from the kitchen stove. The fire cause was determined accidental with the stove accidentally left on. Due to the chemical discharge of the sprinkler system the restaurant was closed pending Riverside County Environmental Health review and the sprinkler system being serviced.
Estimated loss is at $25,000. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. A total of 17 firefighters and one chief officer responded to the incident.
