(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

At 0105 Hours on 10/09/2022, The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at a senior assisted living center in the 5200 block of Central Avenue.  Upon arrival, the first engine company reported light smoke and alarms sounding on the first floor. They discovered a couch had been on fire in a hallway but had been extinguished by the sprinkler system.  The sprinkler system had flooded the hallway and water damage was found in approximately 10 rooms.  The sprinkler system was shut off and crews performed water salvage operations.  The facility made arrangements for alternative housing for 10 displaced residents.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. There was one minor injury due to a resident falling while trying to evacuate.  The patient was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in stable condition.
