Current Situation

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at the 4200 block of Central Avenue.   The first arriving unit reported smoke coming from the subfloor crawl space of a residential board and care home.  Fire department crews-initiated fire attack and a primary search of the structure ensuring all occupants had evacuated.  The incident involved 16 firefighters to extinguish the fire keeping it within the crawl space of the structure.  The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental from an electrical component within the area of origin.  The Fire Prevention Division and City Building and Safety were contacted to determine if the residential board and care facility could be reoccupied.  In total 6 residents were displaced from the home and were being relocated by the facility owner.  Battalion 1 White was in command of the Central incident and there were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians.
