Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire at the end of Cypress, near Alhambra. The first arriving unit reported a working vegetation fire with a moderate rate of spread driven by winds and a potential of 200 acres with no infrastructure threat. Fire department crews initiated an initial attack and had forward progress stopped in an approximately 30 minutes. Fire crews found an abandoned and stripped vehicle within the area of origin that spread to nearby vegetation and large piles of illegally dumped green waste. The incident was investigated by the on-duty Fire Investigator and involved 23 firefighters and was completely extinguished in two hours and forty-five minutes. RPD towed the abandoned vehicle from the fire area. Battalion 2 White was in command of the Cypress incident and there were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians.
