Current Situation
At 2021 on August 7th, the City of Riverside Fire Department was dispatched to a possible vegetation fire in the area of Doolittle and Jurupa. The first arriving unit found a well established vegetation fire burning in the Hole Lake area. Three additional engines were requested along with a water tender. Firefighters made an aggressive fire attack and contained the blaze to 1.5 acres and did not allow it to extend outside of Hole Lake to the nearby businesses. The fire burned in dense vegetation which made full containment challenging. The cause of the fire was undetermined with human involvement as there were numerous homeless encampments in and around the fire area. There were no firefighter injuries and no damage to City infrastructure or surrounding property.
