    Ward 1 Edwards / Traffic Collision Cut and Rescue / Northbound 215 X Downtown Riverside Interchange / RIV #20-011915

    On Saturday April 25, 2020 at 8:01 a.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to reports of a passenger vehicle under a semi-truck trailer at the Downtown Riverside Interchange on the Northbound 215.  Firefighters arrived to discover a passenger in the front right passenger seat pinned in the vehicle under the semi-truck.  The driver was self-extricated in minor condition.  A Heavy Wrecker, the Riverside Technical Rescue Team and additional AMR Ambulance were requested to the scene.  Firefighters utilizing the Jaws of Life and various extrication tools were able to cut away the roof of the vehicle and extricate the patient prior the Heavy Wrecker and Technical Rescue Team arriving on scene.  Extrication time was 20 minutes. 

    Both patients were transported in minor to moderate condition to local area trauma hospitals by AMR.
