Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a Semi-Truck Fire Response to the Southbound 215 Freeway South of Central. A Chief Officer arrived on scene to find a fully involved Semi-Truck with the fire extending into the trailer. Due to the severity of the incident on the Box Springs grade of the 215 Freeway, the Southbound lanes were closed by CHP. Firefighters performed fire attack and kept the majority of the fire out of the semi-trailer.
The closure of the Southbound 215 freeways caused traffic congestion on local streets surrounding the freeway in the Canyon Crest area.
There were no firefighter injuries, and the driver of the semi-truck was not injured. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
