Current Situation

The City of River side Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the 3600 block of Gay Way. The first arriving engine company reported a working attic fire and occupants evacuated to the front.  Fire department crews initiated fire attack from the interior, salvage operations, and vertical ventilation from the roof.  Wind accelerated the fire conditions within the attic causing a partial collapse of the roof.  Ultimately 19 firefighters extinguished the fire working several hours for extinguishment and overhaul.  The assigned Fire Investigator determined that the fire originated in the attic, was accidental in nature, and was caused by an unknown electrical source. Battalion Chief Richmond was in command of the Gay Way Incident. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.
