Current Situation
The Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire with victims trapped by fire. The first arriving company officer described a small single-story house with working fire conditions showing from the garage and established the Goodman Incident. The Company Officer also confirmed imminent rescues from within the structure and immediately entered operating in the rescue mode. Fire crews pulled one subject to safety before transportation by the Rescue Ambulance to a local hospital. A second patient was also transported by AMR. Primary and secondary searches were completed; discovering, tragically, that one fatality occurred because of the fire. Ultimately, crews were successful in knocking down the fire that had spread from the garage to the attic of the house. The incident is currently under investigation. In addition to the civilian injuries, one firefighter was taken to a local hospital for the treatment of dehydration symptoms. Battalion Chief Richmond was in command of the Goodman Incident.
