Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department initially responded to investigate a report of a suspicious odor at La Granada Elementary School. The first arriving company officer investigated and requested the Hazardous Materials Team for further investigation and air monitoring of the affected building. School staff evacuated students prior to the fire department’s arrival and there were no reported illnesses or injuries because of the suspicious odor. The hazardous materials team arrived conducting an initial investigation and then made entry using self-contained breathing apparatus and specialized equipment to locate any potential hazards. The team ultimately determined the area free from hazardous materials and the all-clear was given to the staff. Captain Reynolds was in command of the Gramercy Incident.
