Current Situation
On Friday May 23, 2025, at 2:27 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a first alarm vegetation fire assignment to Hole Lake. Several calls were received by Riverside Police Dispatch and the Battalion Chief observed a well-established smoke column. The incident was upgraded to a second alarm assignment. The Battalion Chief arrived on scene to report a ½ acre vegetation fire in light to heavy fuels in Hole Lake with a potential threat to three commercial businesses off Doolittle. Two additional engine companies were requested to the incident.
Firefighters established a structure protection group along with fire perimeter control. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained within Hole Lake area. No property was damaged because of the fire. The final fire acreage was mapped at 1 acre. An Arson Investigator investigated, and the fire originated from a homeless camp. The cause of the fire is undetermined after investigation. There were no witnesses to the start of the fire.
A total of There were no firefighters or civilian injuries. A total of ten engine companies, two chief officers, one safety officer and one EOC member responded to the incident.
