Current Situation

On Monday, June 30, 2025, at 1:39 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department dispatched a single engine company to the 2900 Block of Hyde Park for a report of a fire out in a trash can.  The Engine Company arrived on scene and discovered the trash can on fire that had extended into the attic space of the residence.  The incident was upgraded to a first alarm assignment.

The fire was held to the attic space of the residence with crews coordinating salvage operations inside the residence.  There were two displaced adults who refused Red Cross services and will be seeking shelter with family and friends.

The Fire Department Arson Investigator investigated with the cause being a discarded cigarette ashtray in a cardboard box into the trash can.

There were no firefighters or civilian injuries.
