Current Situation
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 12:10 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a single engine company with AMR to 6390 Indiana Ave Suite 1 for a business owner reporting a cleaning chemical smell in the occupancy along with six employees having medical complaints. Four of the employees left prior to our arrival. Two of the employees were assessed on scene and they refused any further medical treatment.
Due to the unknown chemical and location within the business suite the incident was upgraded to a Haz-Mat response. The Haz-Mat team made entry into Suite 1 and Suite 2. The team found a cleaning product with an open cap that had been off gassing in the business. The chemical cleaning product was removed from the business. The business suites were ventilated and returned to normal status.
Riverside County Environmental health responded out to the location and assisted the Haz-Mat team with mitigation of the cleaning product. There were no other firefighters or civilian injuries. During the incident, Eastbound Indiana Ave was closed to allow for the Haz-Mat team to stage their equipment.
