Current Situation
The City of Riverside responded to multiple reports of a fire involving vegetation, palm trees, and possibly a structure. Units arrived at the fire describing vegetation and a grove of trees to the rear of a small apartment building on fire with multiple exposures. Additional resources were requested and the Indiana Command was established by Battalion Chief Richmond. Further investigation showed an exterior fire that extended the span of three apartment buildings and towards the 91 freeway. Evacuations were confirmed and fire attack initiated to the rear of the apartment buildings and along the eastbound 91 freeway sound wall. Crews were successful and knocking down the fire and limiting the damage to the main fire occupancy on the exposed side only. There was no fire extension into the structure. The exposures to the West and East of the main fire occupancy were determined to be free from fire damage. The incident investigation is ongoing but is currently undetermined. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries and there were no displaced residents.
