Current Situation

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the Santa Ana River bottom nearest Jurupa and Tyler. Upon arrival the first arriving unit located two separate fires approximately 50’ X 50’ in size along the Santa Ana River bottom bike trail. The fire was described as a working vegetation fire in light fuels moving at a slow rate of spread with a potential for 1-2 acres and no infrastructure threats. Fire Units made access to the fire area and initiated direct fire attack.  Battalion 2 Richmond was in command of the Julian Incident. Crews achieved a quick knock down of the fire and were committed for approximately one hour.  Other assigned units included the fire investigator who continued checking the fire areas. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
