Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a static hazardous materials incident at Martha McClean Park. The Hazardous Material Team investigated a report of unknown amount of mercury discarded in a park trash can. The first arriving units denied access to the reported location and then made entry discovering discarded belongings and the mercury using detection equipment. The hazardous material was isolated and notifications made for disposal. In total the incident took 9 firefighters approximately 2 hours to complete their work. Battalion 2 Richmond was in command of the Jurupa incident.
