Current Situation
The City of Riverside responded to a report of a vegetation fire near Jurupa Ave and Van Buren Blvd. Units arrived on scene to find a fire in a homeless encampment and spreading to nearby brush. The fire was being fueled by strong winds which caused the fire to spot across Jurupa Ave. Crews arrived on scene and engaged in perimeter control and fire extinguishment. The fire was placed under control within 30 minutes, however, crews remained on scene for approximately 2 hours to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. The cause of the fire was undetermined after investigation.
