On Friday, March 21, 2025, at 12:51 p.m., The City of Fire Department responded a first alarm structure fire assignment to the Keith Street Apartments located in the 1800 Block of Keith Street.  Firefighters arrived to discover one apartment unit involved in fire on the second floor.  There were no occupants in the resident at the time of the fire.  The fire was held to the apartment with minimal damage to four adjoining apartments.

There were two displaced adults who will be getting assistance from Red Cross along with a California Save Card issued to the tenant.  The Keith Street Apartment Manager will be able to house the displaced residents.  There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.

The cause of the fire is unintentional with a probable cause due to the use of a space heater with an extension cord.
