Current Situation
On June 14, 2021 at 5:02 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm structure fire assignment to 6475 Victoria Ave for reports of an exterior building fire. Firefighters arrived to find one residential Casita on the grounds with an exterior fire extending into the attic space. Firefighters made an aggressive fire attack. Dure the operation, the onshore winds pushed the fire into a row of cypress trees and a palm tree. The dead palm tree fronds ember casted onto the main residence causing a second residential structure fire on the property with an attic fire.
A second alarm assignment was issued with a Safety Officer and second chief officer. The fire was contained to the attic space and second floor of the main residence. One firefighter was injured during the operation and is in minor condition being seen at a local medical clinic. The fire was investigated by Arson Investigators and the probable cause was electrical at the Casita. There were no civilian injuries. Two residents were displaced from the two buildings. The main residence is habitable.
The residence located at 6475 Victoria was built in 1892 and is reported to be the oldest residential structure in the City of Riverside with continuous occupation.
The property and content save is estimated at $5,000,000 with a property loss of $300,000. A total of 30 firefighters, two chief officers, two overhead support and one safety officer along with AMR and RPD responded to the incident.
