Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department is working a four alarm vegetation fire in Mt. Rubidoux. The fire is currently 10 acres. RPD is evacuating the mountain of hikers. My. Rubidoux is closed. I
Update:
The forward progress has been stopped. Fire is holding at 11 acres. Mop up will take several hours.
Update #2:
Mt. Rubidoux expected to re-open in one hour. Firefighters are battling the heat while working on steep hill slope. Overhaul expected for five hours.
Update #3:
Fire is now 100% contained. There was one firefighter injury in minor condition and was transported to a local area hospital. Firefighters are picking up gear and equipment. Mt. Rubidoux is open to the public.
