Current Situation

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 9:21 a.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm vegetation fire response to the Box Springs Preserve at 750 Marlborough Ave.  Due to smoke showing the location of the fire, the alarm was upgraded to include a second alarm.  Cal-Fire Riverside County responded as well.  Firefighters arrived to discover the fire was burning in Riverside County on the city line in the Box Springs Preserve on the Sugarloaf Mountain slope.  The City of Riverside and Cal-Fire Riverside County Fire Department entered into Unified Command. 

The fire as held to less than a ½ acre.  The investigation of the fire is under Cal-Fire Riverside County jurisdiction.  Mutual Aid was provided by the City of Riverside.  There were no firefighters or civilian injuries.
