Current Situation

The City of Riverside Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 6300 Block of Palm Avenue.  The first arriving unit found heavy smoke and fire coming from multiple sides of a detached garage with a small, attached apartment.  Fire crews deployed hose lines and attacked the fire, keeping it contained to the garage.  While conducting a primary search of the attached residence, firefighters found a small dog unconscious and not breathing inside a smoke-filled room.  She was carried outside and given successful life saving measures before being reunited with her owners.

The cause of the fire was undetermined.  The loss was $150000 with a save of $350000.  The Red Cross was contacted for 3 displaced residents and one small dog.  They were also issued a SAVE card.
