Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire on Pachappa Hill near the corner of Pachappa Hill Drive and Panorama Drive in the City of Riverside. Upon arrival the first due fire unit reported about an acre of light flashy fuels burning uphill at a moderate rate of spread. No structures were threatened during the initial attack of the fire. A second alarm vegetation response was requested immediately along with overhead personnel, tactical channels and an AMR unit for standby purposes. Near by apartment residents were asked to shelter in place during the incident. Battalion 1 took Command of the incident and assigned Division A to Engine 1 and Division Z to Brush 1. Their objectives were to knock down the fire and set a containment line around the fire. As additional units arrived on scene they were divided up between Division A and Division Z as needed for line support and structure protection. After the forward spread of the fire was stopped Divisions were asked to completely overhaul the area. No one was hurt or injured as a result of the fire. An investigation was conducted as the cause and origin of the fire and is considered to be undetermined at this time.
