Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department is currently on scene of a gas leak (hazmat) on Pike Street. The first arriving unit reported a strong smell of gas. Crews investigated and found that a gardener had struck a gas line. Initial actions included shelter-in-place procedures, with no evacuations required. The Hazardous Materials Team is on scene conducting air monitoring, and The Gas Company is on site, estimating approximately 15 minutes until the leak is mitigated. Pike Command has been established, with BC Reynolds in command.
