Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of an unknown substance within a building after a state warrant was served for an illegal grow operation. The first arriving company reported a static open 50-gallon container of an unknown liquid within the building. The City of Riverside Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Team arrived on scene and made an entry into the building with air monitoring equipment to ensure there was no immediate danger to the public. Coordination was done with Riverside County Environmental Health, Riverside Code Enforcement, Riverside Fire Prevention, and the Riverside Police Department to ensure the chemicals were safe and the scene was released to Riverside Code Enforcement for follow up with the building owner. A total of 21 fire personnel responded with a commitment time of 2 hours for mitigation efforts. Battalion 2 White was in command of the Republic Incident. There were no reported injuries or damages to equipment.
