Current Situation

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the Santa Ana River bottom nearest Jurupa and Tyler. Upon arrival the first arriving unit determined the fires’ location to be in the Riverside County district, and a Cal Fire response was requested. The fire was described as a working vegetation fire one acre in size with light and medium fuels moving at a slow rate of spread with a potential for 5 acres and no infrastructure threats. Fire Units made access to the fire area and initiated direct fire attack for perimeter control.  Battalion 2 Richmond was in command of the River Bottom Incident. Once Cal Fire’s resources arrived, a unified command was established. City of Riverside units were committed for 2 hours before transferring the entirety of the incident to Cal Fire. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
