Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a reported semi-truck fire on the Westbound 91 Freeway at Pierce Street. The first unit arrived on scene and found a single commercial semi-truck well involved and spreading into the nearby freeway embankment vegetation. Fire crews quickly attack the fire from the Pierce Street on ramp and from the westbound 91 freeway. A water tender was requested for overhaul and hazardous materials mitigation. Approximately 80 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the freeway and embankment. Coordination with CHP and Caltrans was conducted for mitigation efforts. Battalion 2 White was the freeway IC, there were no reported injuries, and the scene was left with CHP and Caltrans for cleanup.
