(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the given location. Upon arrival to the incident, we found a detached garage that was fully involved in fire with the resident has an exposure and a neighboring fence. The units on scene engaged in a defensive fire attack. We were able to knock down the fire and extinguish the blaze.

The investigation revealed that the occupant was having electrical issues in the garage for the last month. In order for him to use the washer and dryer he was utilizing multiple extension cords daisy chained from the interior of the residential structure. The last time he was in the garage was 11:00 o'clock PM before the fire started. The family was doing laundry inside of the garage. Investigators were notified of the information obtained on scene. The likely cause of the fire is accidental electrical.

There were no firefighters injured in this incident.

The homeowner was notified of the incident and the house was turned over to the occupant.

    All units cleared the scene.
