Current Situation
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:12 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire response to Sycamore Canyon located at 5777 Fair Isle Drive to the rear of Sycamore Highlands Park. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a ¼ acre brush fire burning with a potential for one acre. Due to accessibility issues a brush truck and a patrol were requested. RPD Air One was requested to the incident, the arson investigator along with RPD to the incident due to reports of fireworks.
Firefighters inserted a long hose lay to make access to the fire and were able to contain the fire. Several witnesses in the park reported four males high school age in the park lighting off fireworks into the canyon from Sycamore Highlands Park. Witnesses provide a possible description of the vehicle of the potential suspects. The battalion chief approached the area of the vehicle parked, which sped off with its lights turned off out of the area. Information was relayed to RPD on vehicle description.
The arson investigator arrived on scene and took the witness’ information. The witnesses showed the area where the fireworks were launched from, but there were no remnants of any devices.
The fire was held to ¼ acre and was fully contained. There were no firefighter injuries and no civilian injuries.
