Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to an initial report of a tree fire but arrived to find a 1-acre vegetation fire in light fuels moving at a moderate rate of spread with an immediate structure threat along Firethorn Road. Cal Fire units also responded. The location of the fire was in city boundaries and both City and County units worked alongside each other containing the fire to 3 acres with no fire damage to the threatened structured. Battalion Chief Richmond was in command of the Thorn Incident, and a combined total of 48 firefighters took approximately 5 hours for extinguishment and overhaul. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
