Current Situation

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Tyler and Mandalay.  The first arriving unit found a working fire approximately 50’ X100 in deep seated wood chips.  There were no threats to infrastructure.  A second alarm was requested in addition to a Water Tender to address extensive overhaul conditions.  Battalion 2, Richmond is in command of the Tyler incident which was controlled at approximately 1500 hours with 2-3 additional hours of overhaul. A cause and origin investigation were completed, and it was determined that the likely cause of the fire was deep seated embers from another fire adjacent to the new start. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
