Current Situation
Update 1 - Final
On March 21, 2025 at approximately 11:18am, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire in the area of Van Buren and Jurupa. On arrival, crews located a vegetation fire burning in the city of Jurupa Valley. The City of Riverside Fire Department and CalFire/Riverside County Fire Department established unified command of the incident, burning in a mutual threat zone. Working from the Western Riverside Animal Shelter, crews from both agencies established a 1,200’ hose lay to reach the incident. The fire was contained within approximately 35 minutes from the time of dispatch. The incident was overhauled to cool any hotspots.
There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. A total of 6 Engines, and 3 Battalion Chiefs were committed for approximately 2 hours before being released from the incident.
Initial Notification
The city of Riverside Fire Department is currently assisting Cal Fire with a vegetation fire in the area of Van Buren and Clay in the City of Jurupa Valley. Initial reports placed the call at Jurupa and Van Buren. Riverside Battalion 2 arrived in the area and confirmed the fire was in the City of Jurupa Valley. The city is currently assisting Cal Fire with 2 units from the city. Commitment time is expected to be approximately 2 hours. Move-ups are in place for all stations. Additional updates will be provided as needed.
