Current Situation

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire at Van Buren and the Santa Ana River Bottom.  The first arriving unit reported a working fire in light fuels moving at a slow rate of spread and approximately 100’ x 100’ in size with a potential for 1 acre.  There were no threats to buildings or infrastructure, and the fire was located adjacent to the Van Buren bridge on a downslope to the east.  Crews deployed hose lines achieving “forward progress stopped” quickly. A cause and origin investigation was completed by INV2 and personnel remained committed 40 minutes for overhaul. Battalion 2, Chief Richmond was in command of the Van Buren incident. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
