Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department and the Riverside County Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire in the Santa Ana River bottom around Van Buren Blvd and the bridge. The first arriving company arrived on scene and found a working vegetation fire in heavy vegetation less than one quarter acre in size. Crews made access to the fire from hiking in from the animal shelter on the Riverside County side. Unified Command was established with Riverside County Battalion 14A and Riverside City B2. The fire was determined to be in the City of Riverside jurisdiction and fire crews utilized portable water pumps and hand tools to control and contain the fire to approximately a 50’ X 50’ spot of vegetation. Battalion 2 White was in command of the Van Buren incident. The fire was extinguished without injuries or property damage.
