Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire near Washington and Hermosa. Upon arrival the first arriving unit located a working fire involving a large pile of wood slash. The incident was described as heavy fire conditions and deep-seated with no infrastructure threats having a potential to spread to 3-5 acres. Fire Units made access to the fire area and initiated direct fire attack with assisting Cal Fire units and heavy equipment resources. Battalion 2 Richmond was in command of the Washington Incident. Crews achieved a knock down and then discontinued operations after approximately 7 hours. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
