Current Situation
The City of Riverside Fire Department, in coordination with the Riverside Police Department and AMR, responded to a reported traffic collision with injuries near the intersection of Washington St and Gladstone Blvd.
Upon arrival, the first-in engine company reported a two-vehicle collision involving a sedan and a pickup truck towing a horse trailer. Both vehicles sustained significant damage. The Engine Captain confirmed that one occupant was trapped inside the sedan.
Truck 3 arrived shortly thereafter and initiated extrication efforts. Despite their rapid response and intervention, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. One additional individual sustained minor injuries and was treated on site.
The horse involved appeared uninjured and is currently being cared for by a local community member.
As the Riverside Police Department conducts their investigation, Washington Street will remain closed between Highridge Street and Hermosa Drive.
